Class Description:
This workshop is intended to power up your creative juices and boost your imagination into overdrive! You will become comfortable using unconventional yarns with unconventional gauges and needle/hook sizes.
Start your next project with unusual techniques and Glitter Knitter flair that capture the concept of relaxing and enjoying your crochet and knitting projects!
Explore the use of large circular knitting needles with chunky yarns and fiber combinations that will blow your mind!
You will be inspired by StevenBe’s creative use of both traditional and non-traditional fibers and how to use them in unconventional ways with one of StevenBe’s chunky designs! Silk ’N Scribbles, Scribblechini, Spirograph Vest, or Crochet Wiggle Shawl!
StevenBe will review current trends and his passion for chunky knitting!
Level: ADVANCED BEGINNER and up!
Registration necessary, class size limited 22
Supplies Needed: Students will need to bring:
- Knitting needles size US 13-17 or crochet hooks size K-P
- Chunky or novelty yarn for something fabulous
- Two different fingering or lace weight yarns, a minimum of 250 yards each (equal yardages for both yarns for larger projects)
- Yarns should be chose and wound prior to class so we can begin immediately
- Preferred notions including stitch markers, tapestry needles, tape measure, hand tool and scissors
- A notebook and pen or pencil for taking copious notes
- A work in progress or finished project for show and tell (the desire to be admired is not required – but it is recommended!)
Materials Fee: (payable to teacher): $10.00
Homework: None required.
