Lisa Marie Bruno has been teaching various art subjects since the 1980s. She was the Art Director for the City of Pittsburgh and also taught some of the classes. While Art Director, she taught for CCAC such as… ‘Mini Modeling’, ‘Fashion History’, ‘Jewelry Making’, etc. While living in Los Angeles, she taught ‘Costume Designing’ for the ‘G.A.T.E’ after school program through 20th Century Fox Studios.
As an independent artist and costumer she has been asked to lead workshops on ‘MCM Sewing Buttons’, ‘The Fashion Design World’, ‘Running a Wardrobe Department’ ‘How to Revamp your School Uniforms’, and many more fashion/costume/art topics. She taught ‘Fashion Illustration’, ‘Color and Design Theory’, and ‘Textiles’ for 10 years at a local design school in Pittsburgh. Her teaching approach focuses mainly on old-school, hands-on, one-on-one methods of learning but also encompasses modern updated technology options and approaches.
In recent years she received a grant for her program “Save the Earth…Sew a Button”. With this grant she is serving the local communities by teaching them to repair their clothes instead of tossing in a landfill.
She has an Etsy website under ‘ARTchaeology’ and is one of 30 vendors at ‘Antiques on Ohio River Blvd in Bellevue
