Lawrence G. Kozlowski – Master Folk Artist – Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Fifth generation Polish-American was raised in a typical Polish-American household enjoying “Pierogi – Fillled Dumplings”, “Golabki – Stuffed Cabbage Rolls” and dozens of Polish holiday traditions, customs and folkarts. The folk art of Egg Decorating and Palm Weaving were dutiful passed on from generation to generation with techniques and patterns all becoming a Kozlowski-Bik Legacy keeping alive our heritage and culture. With over 29 research trips on Poland, years of research in museums, classes and villages, first hand knowledge was learned. In 1980 Lawrence Kozlowski was recognized by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Master Folk Artist, presenting a variety of Folk Arts Workshops perpetuating the rich customs, traditions and folklore of his Polish Heritage. To date Lawrence had published 10 books on subjects of egg decorating, palm weaving, straw weaving, Christmas ornaments, Old World recipes and customs documenting and keeping alive the many family traditions for future generations to for years to come.
