Kathy Farra, aka Machine Lady, is a certified sewing machine repair technician. Kathy is a graduate from Grove City College with a dual degree in Computer Systems and Accounting. She has been sewing since she was in 3rd grade and has grown up doing crafts and enjoys sewing and quilting as well as many other fiber art hobbies. Kathy is a past president and current member of the Beaver Valley Piecemakers quilt guild as well as a member of the Sew Broke Quilt guild and the Longarm quilters group at the Little Foot Quilt Shoppe in Evans City, PA. Kathy has always enjoyed antiques which lead her to her love for the vintage Singer sewing machines.
The Featherweight machine is one that the quilters love because of it’s light weight and perfect straight stitch. Kathy has been mentored by sewing machine repair specialists in the Pittsburgh area as well as others around the country to help her in her Featherweight expertise. She enjoys sharing her knowledge of these vintage machines with others through her “Love Your Featherweight” classes where she teaches machine history as well as basic maintenance and repairs of the machines. Kathy also has the Machine Lady sewing machine repair business in which she prefers to concentrate on the Featherweight and vintage Singer machines. She and her husband will be attending and vending Singer Featherweight machines, parts and accessories at trade shows on the East Coast including shows in Akron, Ohio, Chantilly, Virginia, Lancaster, Pa, Washington, Pa and Pittsburgh to name a few.
