Jennifer Ferrence, originally from Johnstown, now living in Meadville, PA, spends her days exploring and learning with her two children, ages 6 and 10. Creating is part of every day, whether it’s brainstorming new ideas while running errands or embracing various mediums and artistic expressions in a beautiful mess on the dining room table. Jennifer loves to look at the intellectual side of knitting, which is why she enjoys reading and interpreting Elizabeth Zimmerman’s writings and patterns. Experimenting with every type of fiber art and craft seems to be an unintentional goal: weaving, spinning, crocheting, needle-felting, punch needle, and rug punch supplies are all gathering varying levels of dust in her closets, depending on when inspiration has last struck. Meeting and spending time with other fiber enthusiasts is a true joy, and Jen believes knitting and knitting communities are an invaluable source of well-being in individuals and in society. Jen is returning as an instructor at the Pittsburgh Creative Arts Festival and has also taught at Knitter’s Day Out in Harrisburg, PA.
