Class Title:  Yarn Punk:  Upcycle, Recycle and Customize your clothes

Teacher Name:  Valerie Moreno

Class Length: 3 hours

Class Fee: $50.00

Class Day/Time:  Sunday, 9:00AM to Noon

Class Description:

This class is for you if you want to incorporate yarn into your everyday life to express yourself with confidence. Punk status optional. Bring all your crochet, knitting and needle skills together to mend, customize and upcycle your clothes.

The Yarn Punk philosophy is use what you have and make it work. An overhauled denim jacket is a classic Yarn Punk piece. You could add dainty Dorset buttons to a blouse or give your favorite fan t-shirt a new life. You’re only limited by your imagination!

This is a hands-on, inter-disciplinary class. Bring something to work on and practice with like a piece of fabric or a t-shirt. During class, you’ll learn technical skills like construction, attachment methods and how to choose materials. Explore your creativity with a design framework and problem-solving tricks for if you get stuck. We’ll talk about how to adapt a written pattern and the history and origins of the Yarn Punk movement.

By the end of the class, you’ll have a solid understanding of what Yarn Punk is and how to do it. Feel confident to tackle bigger projects and wear what you make!
