Class Description:
The first hour of class we will go over everything from batting and thread to basting and ergonomics. Next we will cover learning to comfortably start and stop while free motion quilting along with beginner quilt designs. More complex designs will also be taught for those who are more advanced or just quick learners! By the end of class students will have a toolbox full of tips and tricks to make their free motion quilting more successful. If time allows, we will also discuss choosing quilt designs for a quilt. 2 cutting mats, and ironing pad and an iron will be in classroom.
Level: All levels - there’s something for everyone!
No age restriction, but students must have some sewing machine knowledge and the ability to sew unsupervised.
Registration necessary, class size limited to 15
Supplies Needed:
6: 20” square quilt sandwiches made from quilting cotton and thin cotton or cotton/polyblend batting. It is suggested to bring a mix of solid colored fabrics and medium scale prints.
40 or 50 wt cotton or polythread in a color that contrasts with your fabric (instructor will also have different threads to try)
Size 90 top stitch sewing machine needles
thread snips
marking pens/pencils/chalk to use on fabric
Optional: machine quilting gloves, Super Slider
Materials Fee: $5.00, payable to teacher in class
Homework: Please iron fabric before class
Pfaff sewing machines will be provided for you in class by Thornton Co.
A 3.00 electronic administrative fee will be added for all online registration transactions.
An Admission ticket must be purchased to attend all classes
