Class Title: Darn It!
Teacher Name: Heather Storta
Class Length: 3 hours
Class Fee: $60.00
Class Day/Time: Thursday, 4:00PM to 7:00PM
Class Description:
Have you ever found holes in your knitting? Worn out a sock heel or toe? Don’t throw your knitting out – darn it! Darning is a valuable skill (and not just for knits). It can be done to mask a hole and seamlessly blend in, or it can be done to decorative effect.
We’ll begin with the essential step: learning to stabilize the fabric before darning. Then we’ll learn two ways to darn fabrics – the Swiss method (also known as the duplicate stitch, because it duplicates the stitches) and the Scotch method (a woven darn). Both have their uses!
Level: BEGINNER can do basic knitting
Registration necessary, class size limited to 20
Supplies Needed:
- Swatch
- contrasting waste yarn
- tapestry needle
- scissors
- sewing thread
- embroidery floss or dental floss (thin)
- darning egg or mushroom (optional)
