Class Description:
Art-Junk Journal assemblage is a combination of collaging, sewing, art and creative writing. We will begin with collection, assembling and discussing what to use in your creation. Not to mention the fact that this project is great for the environment as you are repurposing, recycling and using up all those wonderful pieces of fabric, buttons, yarns, trims, paper, ephemera you have. After you crate your piece of at book, you then use an art-junk journal as a diary, something to write poems that you either created or ones you found and add to your book. You use it to jot down how grateful you are, for spiritual feelings and the list goes on. In class we will be creating a single signature book (you can journal in later).
You will being with what can be used in the creation of your book. We will begin with a master board. Then multiple techniques of ways to manipulate the fabric and paper to recreate new versions.
You will learn what the junk journal lingos are and how to incorporate them into your book. You will also learn how to make hinges, signatures and multiple treasures to add to your book.

Supplies Needed: Students will need to bring: Many items to choose from are included in your materials fee but if you want to personalize your book bring some of your own embellishments feel free to bring some of your own trims, buttons, yarns, laces, threads, old patters, colored or, stickers whatever you have around.
Materials Fee: (payable to teacher): $15.00 Instructor will provide everything but if you want to bring some of your own supplies, (like paper scissors) you can.

- 1 specialty cardstock to make cover

- 1 spool of washi tape
- Materials for belly band
- Material for cardstock pocket
- Ripped decorative papers for bookmarker
- Ribbons, laces

- Vintage postage stamps
- Multiple stickers
- Word stickers
- 3D charm
- 4 puzzle pieces
- Multiple sewing buttons
- 1 metallic look puff sticker
Instructor will provide various other tools to use during workshop such as:
Paper scissors, specialty scissors, paper cutter, paper crimper, paper punches, clips, printed images, rulers, compasses, tapes, glues, inks, bleach and more.
Homework: None required.
