We are changing the format of the newsletters. In this and future issues, you will see it divided into 2 segments, possibly more, to bring you reviews, sweepstakes and to showcase everything we have to offer at the upcoming festival March 24, 25, 26, 2017!

Knit, Crochet, Fiber:

We’re thrilled to announce just one of the fantastic teachers you can look forward to taking classes with in March. Franklin Habit needs no introduction! He’s brilliant and witty. He loves the history of where patterns came from and what our grandmothers were doing in the good ol’ days. He has his own funny, personal, romantic and sometimes heartbreaking stories to share about his first teachers – all women in his family, which he draws inspiration from. He can charm you with antiquities and break down the complexities of Tessellations (interlocking patterns, often times seen in M.C. Escher’s works). This gifted and funny teacher is setting the fiber world on fire. With published books, he also has his own personal blog “Panopticon”, is featured on Skacel’s blog “Fridays with Franklin”, and is seen on Lion Brand’s Notebook. His original patterns can be found on Ravelry and he has published his own coloring book! We are thrilled to have him join us (The only tough part is selecting 5 of the 15 classes he submitted).

Classes in Knit, Crochet, Sewing, Quilting, Surface Design and MORE!!!

Quilting, Sewing and Fabric:

In the paragraph above, we mentioned Franklin’s recently published coloring book. Coloring books and Zentangle seem to be the latest rage! Pictured here, Gerry Benton, a Pittsburgh native, blends the multiple techniques of “Cross Crafting” (this term penned by our friends at Skacel). This block began as an Art Quilt Group Challenge. Gerry used Zentangle techniques in the larger circle, using a black marker, then machine quilted, machine appliqued and crystal embellished this beautiful 12″ x 12″ block. The theme was black and white fabric and Gerry did it brilliantly. She is a fiber artist, sewer, quilter, designer, knitter, crocheter, embroiderer, painter and Zentangle artist. She is tremendously knowledgeable about everything artistic and craft related. She will be teaching classes at the festival and overseeing the details of the Quilt Challenge. We are thrilled to have Gerry join the line up of teachers and we are grateful to have her share her ideas and suggestions with us. The title of the block shown above is Circles, Crystals and Triangles.

Taking a brief break

View online | Subscribe | Visit us online | Archives

Plans are in progress for the 13th Annual Festival.  We are currently working on a great line up of teachers and exhibitors.

We will be taking a short break from newsletters and Sweepstakes giveaways.  Barb was recently diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia and will be having surgery next week. She plans to take a few weeks off to recover and heal. After that time we will resume our work to bring you updates on new product and book reviews.  We typically make plans to attend TNNA (The National Needlearts Association) summer show, but we have asked our sponsors to send us their new products to review since the show will be held during Barb’s recovery time. Look forward to sharing what’s new with you next month!

Save the dates for 2017 – March 24, 25, 26th!  Congratulations to our sweepstakes winners from last month’s newsletter listed below.

With Warm Regards,

Ann
