Now that Registration is Open and you are making your class selections, we can start our Holiday preparations. There are trees to decorate, presents to wrap, ribbons to tie,

candles to light, parties to attend, baking to do and taking time for an egg nog or two! (or three). Ann made this Kusudama flower after three egg nogs, not bad eh?  Before we begin our holiday preparations, we’d like to offer 2 book reviews and giveaways.

Knit, Crochet, Fiber:

Swonchos by Barbara Condon and Kathleen England, proud owners of Glenfiddich Wool and exhibitors at the Festival.

Barbara and Kathleen established Glenfiddich Wool in 2002, their partnership began with a mutual love of fiber and knitting. Their book, Swonchos includes patterns for the child to the adult. What is a Swoncho? It’s a cross between a sweater and a poncho, the perfect garment for any body size, shape or height and can be dressed up or worn casually. Adding various necklines, sleeve lengths and adding texture and color accents will make this the favorite garment in your closet! With a bonus section about their flock of sheep – Border Leicesters, it is well written, easy to follow with clear patterns.

The book, edited by Linda Voss Plummer, offers a helpful terminology section in the front as well as a link for some videos for those frustrating times when patterns are just not enough. Linda also provided a reminder about gauge and the importance of taking the time to avoid disasters. Linda is teaching 5 classes this year, from a Ready, Set, Go class to Finishing and even one for your Dog! (No you may not bring your dog, they have a tough time holding the needles). We are pleased to offer a copy of the book for one lucky winner.  See details below to enter the sweepstakes. Barbara and Kathleen will have copies available for sale at the Festival in booth 901.

The Movie Room is a new feature this year at the Festival that Skacel has sponsored. We start the weekend off with a Kick Off Luncheon with StevenBe.
