Warm Up America and Knit the Bridge Lounge

Spend a little time or a lot of time just hanging out with your friends knitting or crocheting a square for the Warm Up America Foundation or pieces for the Knit the Bridge project: www.knitthebridge.wordpress.com.  Instructors from Pat Catan’s and the Fiber Arts Guild will be on hand to assist you. Pat Catan’s and many of our other sponsors will provide yarn and needles for your use. The squares, knitted or crocheted, are assembled and distributed to families in need, or after being used for the Knit the Bridge project, the panels will be disassembled, and given to local shelters. Make a 7 x 9 inch square, or a size for the panels to be used for the bridge, learn a new stitch, and spend some time socializing while you do some charity work. You can specify which project your panel or piece will go to. No registration necessary. Friday afternoon, all day  Saturday and Sunday.

This shawl is your answer to the question, I love this yarn, but what can I make out of it?(It is the perfect shawl for going to the market!) It will curve around your shoulders so it will stay on. It is easy—a go-anywhere project that you can take to meetings, in the car, in the train, on a plane, on a boat, or wherever else you go. We will talk about adding beads and yarnovers for lace. But the idea is to be creative. No two shawls are alike. You will probably “make a million” of them. This class is best suited for beginners or for someone who wants a new pattern looking to use up their stash. You must know how to knit, purl, cast on and cast off. Registration required, class limited to 25.

Supplies Needed: Any yarn at all (mixing types is the most fun!). Needles that are one or two sizes larger than the yarn calls for.

Homework: None
