Class Title:  Needle Tatting

Teacher Name:  Beverly A Bortner

Class Length:    3 hours

Class Fee:  $30.00

Class Day/Time:  Sunday, 9:00 am to 12:00 noon

Class Description:

Replace the tatting shuttle with a needle and tatting becomes easy, because the double stitch is put directly onto the needle. The only difference between shuttle and needle tatting is the instrument used to make the lace. In shuttle tatting, the shuttle moves back and forth, over and under, transferring the loop to the other thread, which for most can be difficult. In needle tatting, the stitches are first supported on the needle, then pulled off over the eye onto the thread to form either a chain or a ring. There is only one stitch in tatting, the double stitch.

In this class we will learn how to create tatting with a needle. We will also learn how to read a tatting pattern and will make a coaster or continue on to make a small doily.
