In this class you will learn how to make a small quilted box pouch with an exposed zipper closure. We will use basic quilting techniques to create your fabric for the box. This is a great item to use as a travel sewing bag, makeup kit, toiletry bag for vacation or any number of uses. And once you learn the technique you can make a bag any size you like. Makes a great gift as well! Intermediate sewing skills required. Instructor requests that this class is for adults only.
Registration necessary, class size limited to 14
Supplies Needed :
Scissors for cutting fabric and threads, Sewing (straight) pins, Seam ripper, Chalk drawing tool or fabric marker (something to draw on fabric with that is washable)
If you are bringing your own machine, you may store it for no charge throughout the weekend at the designated festival coat check.
Materials Fee: A materials kit is necessary for this class which will include all necessary materials for making the quilted box pouch. Kit fee of $25 will be payable to the instructor at the time of the class – the kit will include:
Illustrated directions for making the quilted box pouch
Precut pieces of 100% quilting weight cotton fabric to use for outside of bag
100% quilting weight cotton lining
One regular closed bottom zipper
Spool of all-purpose thread
Homework: None. If you are bringing your own machine, it must be in good working order. It can be stored all weekend at the festival for no charge. If you choose not to bring a machine and wish to take the class, please see note above in Supplies Needed.
