Class Description:

This class will show the student how to perfect the hand applique stitch. We will cover the tools, threads and needles needed to make your applique stitches disappear into the background. This will be an opportunity to use a large scale print. The pattern placement allows the quilter to make the vase and the flowers from the same fabric. You can also decide to use scrap fabrics.The embroidery stitches will add another techniques designed to make your quilt stand out. This appliques quilt is it’s simple and elegant.  Some experience making quilts is required.

Registration necessary, class size limited to 14 

Supplies needed to complete quilt 18” x 20”: Applique/Embroidery Techniques

Basic hand sewing supplies:

(Scissors, size 9 applique/ embroidery needles, thimble, marking pencil, small/

Iron and pressing board).

Fabric & Cutting Requirements: Amount

White print/solid cotton fabric (background) 1 piece 18 ½ “ x 20 ½ “

¾ yard (continuous binding) 5 strips 2 ¼ “ x 19”

Bright largescale print vase and circles 1 fat quarter at least 18” x 20”


Scraps/solid Various fabrics (Vase fabric

12” square)

Color of your choice for stem ¼ inch package bias tape

Backing – ¾ yard cut fabric 22” x 24”

Low loft batting 22” x 24”

Materials Fee: $ 6.00 paid to instructor in class.
