Students will cut simple shapes from wool fabrics provided and sew them into realistic flowers. Leaves and buds are then cut, sewn and glued to the flower and pinback base to make an original clothing accessory (perfect as an embellishment for any garment, hat, or handbag.) Class is lively and relaxed with individual attention. Instructor will offer advice on processing recycled woven wool clothing for use and critique any fabrics students bring to class. She will have samples, both finished and in progress, for guidance. Additional flower kits, which can be started in class, will be available for purchase from instructor.
Skills Needed: Basic hand-sewing experience. This is a great class to celebrate Spring and give Mom a special gift on Mother’s Day that she’ll treasure forever.
Registration necessary, class size limited to 14
Supplies Needed:: Sharp fabric scissors, long sewing needle, neutral thread, straight pins, needle-nosed pliers/wire cutter (if available).
Materials Fee: $8.00 for kit to include: 36″ x 2″ hand-dyed wool fabric strip (student selects from assorted supply available), assorted green and colorful fabric pieces to coordinate with the center flower, wire, floral tape, white glue, pinbacks. Payable to teacher in class.
