Even if you have never crocheted before you will begin crocheting a beautiful rug made from strips of old fabric. In the homework section, you will see instructions for creating your rag strips. In class you will learn knotless joining, getting started, following written instructions, design effects and finishing techniques. You can anticipate making considerable progress on your rug during this class. The class will focus on a rectangular rug. You will also receive verbal and written instructions for circular and square rugs. Open to all levels.
Registration necessary, class size limited to 20
Supplies Needed: scissors, crochet hook size S – 19 mm, 75 ounces of fabric torn into 1.5 inch strips
Materials Fee: None
Using old flannel or cotton sheets, cut the hems and selvedge off. Snip a series of 1 inch slits approximately 1.5 inch wide apart in the short edge of the sheet. Beginning at the slit, tear lengthwise to create long strips of fabric. We will join strips in class. We will also discuss other appropriate materials for crocheting rugs.
